SJ Club parents,
A small group from the staff team and PCC have been working on a ‘Framework for Admission of Children to Communion before Confirmation’.
The PCC approved the Framework in July and this Autumn we are beginning the process of moving towards admitting baptised children to Communion. This is a good opportunity for us all to look again at what Communion means within the life of the church as well as to think carefully about how children can fully participate in the Christian family meal.
Two teaching sessions about communion and children will take place this term on Sunday 29 Sep at 7pm and Wed 2 October at 8pm, both in the Stable Room. They will be the same so please just choose which time suits you best.
Following on from these, again their will be two Question and Answer sessions on Sunday 10 Nov at 7pm and Wednesday 13 Nov at 8pm. These are an opportunity to think about the process of admitting children to Communion and for you to ask questions.
You will be able to sign up to admit your children to Communion at these sessions. Then in the Spring term we will hold Communion (and Baptism if necessary) preparation courses for children, young people and parents before holding an Admission to communion service around Easter 2014.
We are all very excited about how this will bring our children deeper into relationship with Christ and into his body, the church.
We look forward to discussing this with you over the coming months,
Tim, James, Janet, Lorna, Richard, David Collins, Nicholas Pinhey
